Treatment

Picture
Before any treatment services can be performed, a detailed intake and history of each patient is taken to determine which treatment modality will be most appropriate. Patients are asked about the quality and severity of their complaints along with information regarding their lifestyles and diet. Often everyday stresses, diet and emotional states will affect, and cause, many of a patient's conditions.

Diagnosis is achieved by feeling the quality of the patient's pulse on both wrists in six different positions accompanied by an examination of the structure of the tongue and condition of it's coating. Diagnostic methods include observations of the patient's skin tone and color, body movements, scents and hair quality. All of these methods are used in determining the source and severity of the patient's disease or condition. The human body is diagnosed as a whole rather than sectioned into a series of organs.

It is this approach of treating the body as a whole that allows the practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine to design a specialized treatment, tailor-made for the individual. There are no "cookie-cutter" treatments in this medicine and each patient is treated as an individual with specific needs. Considering these needs, specific Acupuncture points are selected to address the patient's condition and Herbal prescriptions are custom prepared for the patient at that specific time for their specific need. Also created at this time of diagnosis is the practitioner's choice of treatment method that best suits the needs of the patient, whether it be Acupuncture, Herbal treatment, Cupping, Moxa or other method available.

It is important to note that the amount of time in which a patient will see and feel results from his or her treatment will vary from person to person. While some patients may see immediate results from a single treatment, others may experience gradual improvement over a series of treatments. Different factors will influence this process. Patients with chronic, or long held conditions will take longer to correct than those with acute, shorter duration problems. Patients who comply with the practitioner's recommended lifestyle and dietary changes and take prescriptions as instructed will experience quicker results than those who don't. Because human beings are uniquely individual, some will be more sensitive to treatment than others, so healing times will also vary accordingly. We highly recommend treatments twice per week to maximize  healing potential and get you healthy again as quickly as possible.

For the those who are squeamish about needles, Acupuncture is not a mandatory method of treatment. If you feel that Chinese Medicine can help you, but you'd rather not have Acupuncture, simply share your concerns with your practitioner know and a different treatment will be recommended for you that will benefit your needs. Your comfort is very importance to us; a relaxed body heals faster. Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with your practitioner; be an active voice in your recovery.
